Who We Are
The Teaching & Learning Department provides leadership, service and support in all areas of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional learning so that all students an teachers can perform to their highest potential. The Teaching & Learning Department works with teachers, administrators, and support staff across all district schools to ensure a guaranteed and viable curriculum is in place at all schools across grade levels and content areas.
The Teaching & Learning Department focuses its work on three areas: Curriculum (what we teach), Instruction (how we teach) and Assessment (how we know our students are learning).
What We Do
We provide curriculum and instructional resources to support students as they learn the Utah Core Standards strive to master the MCSD Essential Standards.
We provide learning opportunities for staff that is aligned with major school and/or district goals identified through regular needs assessments and a professional development planning process.
We provide assessments for teachers to guide their instruction prior to summative assessments.
We provide assistance to building administrators as they provide the most effective learning experiences and environments where students can explore, connect, and apply their learning through hands-on, relevant and real-world experiences.
